  16. Washington. Clifton met J.F.K. through a mutual friend, Charles
  17. Bartlett. A constant Kennedy companion, Clifton cultivated
  18. excellent connections with politicos, the military brass and the
  19. media, and was a key Administration press contact during the Bay
  20. of Pigs invasion, the Cuban missile crisis and the
  21. assassination.
